Our first program was in the borough of Brooklyn and we dedicated our project at a small gathering in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.  We have visited scores of schools throughout the borough and students from Brooklyn have attended our events in Manhattan.  According to the 2010 Census, 35.7% of the population was non-Hispanic White, 31.9% non-Hispanic Black or African American, 10.4% non-Hispanic Asian, 0.4% from some other race (non-Hispanic) and 1.6% of two or more races (non-Hispanic). 19.8% of Brooklyn’s population was of Hispanic, Latino, or Spanish origin.
