Because our honored guests work tirelessly, sometimes visiting a school in the morning, another in the afternoon and then attending a public event in the evening, we try to schedule some fun and relaxation. We generally book a concert at Carnegie Hall and on occasion we have been dinner guests of Youth Arts New York board member Sandy Parker at the historic National Arts Club in Gramercy Park. They have attended play readings at New York Theatre Workshop and dinners at Greenwich Village’s Café Loup. In May, 2010 we attended a garden party thrown for the hibakusha at the home of Keith Gemerek and Ken Cooper in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Our guests learn not only to love the young people of New York but also the City itself.
