One of our favorite places to relax after a hard day’s work is the Highline, a new park on the West Side of Manhattan.  Youth Arts New York founder Robert Croonquist is a charter member of Friends of the Highline and Dupuy’s Landing, one of our bases, is just a short walk from the 23rd Street entrance.  Despite the beauty of the Highline, there is a dark reminder of things past.  The Williams and Baker Warehouses on 20th Street once housed the uranium used to fuel the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.  It now houses the temporary headquarters of Friends of the Highline.  One day after a walk on the Highline we joined David Janes of the United States Japan Foundation for dinner at Rockefeller Center.
